About us

Thistle Catering was founded in October 2008 by Nikki and Andrea D’Ambrosio who previously ran a highly popular and award winning healthy eating Cafe in Perthshire and a successful events catering company called the Creative Caterers specialising in weddings, sporting events, corporate hospitality and contract catering from 2003 to 2008.

In October 2008, the couple sold the events side of their business as a going concern in order to focus solely on existing contract catering sites and on their expansion in this particular sector of the catering industry.

 

Andrea’s previous experience includes working his way up to the position of Head Chef in several of the world leading hotels such as the Badrutts Palace in St Moritz, Grandhotel Buergenstock in Switzerland and Gleneagles Hotel in Scotland. It was always his dream to own his own catering company and he has now fulfilled a lifelong ambition. Nikki has vast experience in sales, marketing and customer service and after working in the travel industry for many years she joined the catering industry as a restaurant manager and café owner. Over the last five years she has helped to organise, manage and develop the company’s catering operations and is now looking forward to a period of expansion and growth within the contract catering sector.

Through possession of a first hand knowledge of the catering industry from all it’s different angles, whether it be a canteen breakfast menu, a sporting event for a 1000 people or five star a la carte boardroom dining for senior executives, there is no aspect of food service which the Thistle Catering team has not successfully delivered before. By tapping into previous catering experiences and different styles of menu and service the team are confident of their ability to produce bespoke food service plans for any catering establishment and to match any customer profile. The advantages being that there is no need for the client to outsource a different catering team for in house conferences and events.
